Bette's Plum Torte Yield: 6 to 8 servings Ingredients - 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup flour
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 5 plums, pitted and sliced
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 3 tablespoons sugar
Preparing Preheat the oven to 350° F. In a large bowl heat the butter, vanilla, sugar, and egg yolks. Add the cornstarch, flour and baking powder, beating until the batter is well mixed and has a dough-like consistency. Place the mixture in a greased 8-inch square or 9-inch round baking pan, pressing the dough onto the bottom and sides of the pan. Top with the plums and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
